The Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering at Queen’s Univeristy, Canada, is looking for a number of PhD and MSc students for fully funded studentships starting September 2021. Qualified students are encouraged to send an expression of interest to the respective prospective advisors listed below. Students should send (1) Cover letter which outlines your motivation for graduate studies and research statement, (2) unofficial transcripts, (3) contact information for two referees, (4) test scores for non-native English speakers and (5) a CV. PhD position in Geodynamics/Geoselenic Research

This position is funded by the Stephen Cheeseman Geoselenic Research Project (https://www.queensu.ca/geoselenicresearchproject/home), which aims at improving our understanding of the Earth-Moon system. Applicants should possess a MSc degree in geophysics, physics, or Earth and Planetary Sciences and have some experience in numerical modelling of Earth systems, planetary evolution, tides, or magnetohydrodynamics. The position is funded for four years and will be conducted in the Geophysics and Geodesy lab (https://sea-level.org). PhD position in Drone Geophysics

This position is funded as part of the NSERC Create program “UTILI: Uninhabited aircraft systems Training, Innovation and Leadership Initiative” - https://carleton.ca/utili/
The student will conduct research on using drones to acquire, optimize, or innovate geophysical data acquisition and exploration. Applicants should have a MSc degree or equivalent in geophysics, geomatics engineering, physics, or electrical engineering and demonstrate an interest in unmanned aerial systems. MSc and PhD positions in Digital Earth Sciences

We seek highly motivated candidates for MSc and PhD positions to work on the broad areas of computational geophysics, including anelastic gravitational wave propagation, earthquake-induced gravity perturbation, and quasistatic and geodynamic problems. Applicants should have Bachelor’s or MSc degree in related fields in geophysics, physics, engineering, or computer science and demonstrate interests in high-performance computing, big data processing, and scientific visualization. PhD position in Geodesy/Geomatics Engineering

Students who hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying Engineering or Geodesy are welcome to apply for this fully funded four year position. The successful applicant will join the Geophsics and Geodesy lab. Applicants with strongprogramming, data processing and scientific visualization skills will be preferred.
