The Earth System Science Programme aims to study the dynamics of the Earth as an interrelated system that includes the atmosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere, as well as anthropogenic impacts (https://www.cuhk.edu.hk/sci/essc/). The programme features geophysics as one of its concentrations. The Faculty of Science (http://www.sci.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/) is one of the eight Faculties at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and presently has more than 170 teaching and research faculty members and 3,000 students, offering 14 undergraduate programmes and 20 postgraduate programmes. All faculty members are committed to excellence in teaching, research and service.

The appointee will contribute to teaching and advising undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as developing a vigorous, externally funded research programme. Teaching is conducted in English in essentially all the courses in the Faculty of Science.

All applicants will be considered regardless of national origin, race and gender. The appointee will be appointed as “Ng Yin Ying Assistant (or Associate) Professor of Geophysics” based on qualifications and experiences. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for three years initially commencing August 2021, which, subject to performance review, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation (tenure) later.
