Job Details

The Gustin Lab, at the University of Nevada-Reno, USA, is seeking a MS and PhD student to work on a project investigating atmospheric mercury chemistry. Recent work has demonstrated that there are a variety of oxidized mercury compounds in the air. Methods are needed to identify specific compounds. This research will focus on developing methods to identify the exact chemistry of the oxidized compounds and deploy our new methods in a variety of environments that have unique atmospheric chemistry to test the utility of our new methods. Funding from NSF will allow us to pursue this research topic. We are looking for a MS and PhD student with a significant chemistry background, analytical experience with equipment such as a GC-MS, and great attention to detail to work on this project. If you think you are interested in doing research on this topic, please visit the Gustin lab web page maegustin.com to see projects we are working on. If you would like to apply for this position send cover letter (addressing the above), CV, and transcripts to mgustin@cabnr.unr.edu. If your application is viable I will ask you to provide 3 reference letters.
