The position includes a mix of teaching, research, and service obligations. The candidate must possess demonstrated, effective teaching skills at the undergraduate level, including the ability to relate theory to application through experiential learning. Basic teaching requirements are nine undergraduate credit hours (three courses) per semester with the expectation of moderate research activity. The candidate is expected to develop new course materials as well as teach previously developed courses.

Candidates are expected to pursue scholarly research activities and to participate in individual and group research projects involving students.

Service duties may include student mentorship, curriculum evaluation and assessment, committee participation, and project leadership.

Qualifications

PhD in Geoscience, Physical Geography, Geography, Climatology, Meteorology, or Atmospheric Science required. The position includes teaching assignments primarily in introductory and advanced Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Geoscience courses for meteorology, aviation, homeland security, and other programs as well as teaching university-wide service courses, which include a survey meteorology course, an applied climatology course, an aviation weather course, and potentially other non-calculus-based meteorology courses supporting the Applied Meteorology minor (e.g., Thunderstorms, Satellite and Radar Interpretation, Climate Change, Tropical Meteorology, etc.). Proficiency in GIS applied to climatological or meteorological data is required. Experience in aviation meteorology for piloted or autonomous aircraft is desired.

Applications will be reviewed immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Interested individuals should submit a letter of application clearly showing that the applicant meets the minimum qualifications, a current curriculum vitae, a cover letter, and a statement of teaching and research interests.
