The National Research Council Canada (NRC) is looking for a Research Officer, Airborne Research to support our Aerospace Research Centre. The Research Officer, Airborne Research would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

Working for the NRC Aerospace Research Centre (NRC-AERO), you will support the goals of NRC and the Research Centre through research of international caliber and the development and application of advanced technologies. You will work in a team environment with researchers and technical experts in world-class facilities. Activities also include the development of proposals for new research initiatives, project management, and providing service to NRC clients. You will provide input into the overall direction and research priorities for the program area within the context of the Aerospace Research Centre business plan.

You have a PhD in Atmospheric Science, Applied Science (Applied Physics, Optics, Remote Sensing or Equivalent) or Electrical Engineering or a M.Sc. degree in a related field with experience in analyzing and modeling of airborne remote sensing data (lidar, radar and/or radiometer) will be considered.

You have experience in the full spectrum of research activities in atmospheric science, including identification of research requirements, proposal writing, data production and analysis, and reporting through written documentation, presentations and publishing; experience in analysing and/or developing scattering models using airborne or multi-platform (ground, airborne and/or space) atmospheric remote sensing datasets; and experience in developing or improving signal processing and machine learning algorithms for atmospheric applications.
