Postdoctoral Fellow - Atmospheric and Space Physics
Location: Clemson, SC
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Clemson University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in atmospheric and space physics under the mentorship of Professor Jens Oberheide. The position is focused on analyzing mesospheric water vapor variability from SABER and how wave-driven residual mean circulation changes impact the composition of the thermosphere as observed by GOLD. Research duties include comparative diagnostics using the WACCM-X model.
The anticipated start date is spring/summer 2021; some flexibility is possible on the specific time of arrival. The initial appointment will be for one year with the option for renewal for a second year, depending on performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
The position is suitable for applicants with a background in numerical modeling and/or data analysis. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with middle and upper atmosphere satellite analysis, and held a PhD in physics or another relevant field for no more than five years or expect to graduate in 2021.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
All applications received by July 8, 2021 are guaranteed full consideration; however, applications will continue to be reviewed until the position is filled.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications, dissertation abstract, a clearly articulated statement of research interests of no more than 3 pages excluding references, and the names and contact data of three references as a single PDF to http://apply.interfolio.com/83013.
