Applicants are expected to have a background in the use and application of weather and climate model output, with strong expertise and experience in the application in Alpine regions. Process models and data analysis techniques shall be used to characterize, diagnose, and project impacts of extreme events and climate change on natural systems and subsequent hazardous processes and risks. The combination of models and observations, or applications of data assimilation techniques, should be part of the portfolio of the applicants. The successful candidate is encouraged to contribute to field measurement campaigns together with groups at WSL/SLF to support model development and validation. Topics of interest for the professorship include impacts on mountain ecosystems through processes associated with hazards such as droughts, storms, floods, and mass movements.
