The Remote Sensing of Environmental Change Lab (http://www.sfu.ca/people/binglu.html) in the Department of Geography at Simon Fraser University is recruiting one Graduate Student (PhD or MSc) to work on remote sensing for precision agriculture on a project funded by industry partners.

Research topics include: 1) Mapping soil moisture and carbon content using drone-based images (e.g., hyperspectral, LiDAR, and thermal) and Internet of Things; 2) Evaluating crop growth status using drone and satellite images, weather information, and agricultural machinery data; and 3) Utilizing remote sensing products for supporting farming practices. The position will be based at the SFU Burnaby Campus. Multiple field sites are in southern British Columbia and southern Saskatchewan. Working closely with industry partners on field data collection and analysis is anticipated.

The research team is seeking one Graduate Student with research experience and skills in remote sensing and other relevant disciplines, including agriculture, ecology, or soil science. Applicants with expertise in multiple disciplines are highly encouraged to apply. The anticipated start date is January 2022. The length of graduate program is typically 2 years for MSc and 4 years for PhD.
