The High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI) at Princeton University is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 HMEI Environmental Fellows Program. This honorific postdoctoral fellowship program provides opportunities for outstanding environmental scholars to participate in environment-related research and teaching at Princeton. Because the fellowship includes both research and teaching, candidates need to identify potential faculty mentors for both research and teaching - these may or may not be the same person.

More than 120 members of the Princeton University faculty, representing close to 30 academic departments (in Social Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Engineering), are affiliated and participate with HMEI. Successful candidates will work in collaboration with members of the High Meadows Environmental Institute and associated departments.

Applications are welcome from candidates who have earned a Ph.D. during the period January 2019 through December 2021 or expect to have a Ph.D. by the start of the fellowship. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Biogeochemical Cycles

* Environmental Humanities

* Environmental Chemistry

* Climate Change

* Geomicrobiology

* Carbon Mitigation

* Atmospheric Science

* Food Systems

* Biodiversity

* Climate Change and Health

* Water Resources

* Climate and Energy

* Oceanography

* Climate Change Mitigation

* Earth History

* Ecosystem Science

Applicants should contact potential faculty sponsors to discuss their application and to confirm the faculty members’ willingness to supervise their work should they be accepted into the program.  An indication of the faculty sponsorship should be noted in their application.

Applications received before November 15, 2021, 11:59 pm eastern time, will be given full consideration. Applicants should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae including a publication list, a 1-2 page statement of research interests and goals, a brief statement of teaching interests and goals (1 – 2 pages), a separate statement outlining how they see themselves contributing to HMEI’s mission of building a diverse and inclusive program (1 – 2 pages), and name, mailing address, and email address of three referees familiar with their work. All applications must be submitted through the Princeton University jobsite at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/22561 . HMEI Environmental Fellowships provide a competitive annual salary, depending upon experience, along with a significant allowance for travel to meetings and for research support. Initial awards are for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years depending on satisfactory performance and available funding. The earliest starting date is February 1, 2022.

This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
