Postdoctoral positions are available in the department of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in Prof. Semnani’s research group. The positions involve developing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and geomechanical modeling techniques for landslide hazard assessment. The project is an opportunity to collaborate with experts in high-performance computing, geomechanics and climate modeling.
We are looking for highly motivated and talented individuals with a recent PhD degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Geophysics, or related fields. A list of necessary qualifications is below:
- Knowledge of machine learning and applications using python programming
- Demonstrated background in computer programming using python and/or C++.
- Experience with at least one common numerical modeling technique, such as Finite Element Method, Material Point Method, Discrete Element Method, etc.
Experience with analyzing geospatial data (e.g. GIS) and/or landslide modeling is a plus, but not required.
