The College of Idaho seeks a broadly-educated geoscientist for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Environmental Studies to start in fall 2022. The department seeks candidates who hold a doctoral degree in geology, geoscience, or a closely-related field, and who have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education, local field studies, and collaborative student/faculty research. The new hire will contribute to the interdisciplinary Environmental Studies Program, which has existing emphases in Environmental Science, Geography, Geoscience, and Environmental Humanities. The hire will: teach lower-division courses in geology and environmental science and upper-division courses relevant to their area of study (e.g. climate science, hydrology, soils, environmental geology, geomorphology); develop an externally-funded research program that involves undergraduate students; lead off-campus field studies; and, possibly teach a first-year seminar. The normal teaching load is three courses in both fall and spring semesters and an additional immersive course during a 3-week term in January. Candidates from marginalized or underrepresented communities are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in a liberal arts context. Complete applications must include the following:

- statement of research interests and vision for faculty-student collaborative research in a liberal arts environment (1-page maximum)
- three letters of recommendation, including at least one addressing teaching in detail
- graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
