Winter 2021-2022 Field Exploration Internship

Role

The Winter 2021-2022 Field Exploration Interns will work with the Lithium Americas geological 
exploration team to characterize the geology of sedimentary lithium resources in the United States.
Successful applicants will be tasked with field-based geological mapping, collecting samples for 
geochemical analysis, synthesizing field and laboratory data, creating high-quality digital 
geological maps and cross sections, and writing reports. The internship will be field based 
(remote) with some desktop work at the Lithium Nevada office in Reno, Nevada. The internship is 
expected to last approximately November 2021 - March 2022 (flexible). Housing, a monthly stipend of 
$3,000 USD, and relocation expenses will be provided.

Requirements

•     Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Science, Geology, Structural Geology, 
Sedimentology, Volcanology, Geochemistry, or a related discipline. Candidates who have completed or 
are working towards graduate degrees in Earth Science are strongly preferred.
•     Extensive field experience with mapping complex geological structures is mandatory.
•     A strong understanding of sedimentary geology, stratigraphic principles, ArcGIS 
software and Adobe Illustrator are required.
•     Commitment to safe field practices.
•     Comfortable with working in a variety of field conditions and operating heavy 
machinery.
•     Be highly motivated: be curious, think outside the box, have high energy, and 
deliver creative solutions.
•     Be a team player: have outstanding communication and organizational skills, be 
flexible, motivate team members.
