Description

The Department of Civil and Urban Engineering at the New York University (NYU) Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, anticipated to begin on September 1, 2022. Higher rank appointments may be possible for exceptional candidates.   This search is part of a cluster hire in Predicting Climate Change and its Impacts: From the Global to Urban Scale that includes the departments of Civil and Urban Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, and the Center for Data Science. Additional faculty positions will be advertised as part of the cluster, with the intention of creating a diverse, inter-disciplinary cohort to devise cutting edge research and curricular developments. Qualifications

We seek individuals who have, or have the potential to develop, a strong record of scholarship, leadership, and curricular innovation, and an excellent funding record. You should also demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring. The ideal candidate should have a research portfolio at the nexus of urban hydrology and climate change, including but not limited to modeling urban hydrology, compound coastal flooding, and flows through urban water infrastructure (such as combined sewer systems and stormwater infrastructure); effects of climate change on flood hazards in urban systems; stormwater and coastal flood impacts to infrastructure, communities, and accessibility; flood hazard adaptation and mitigation (such as infrastructure resilience); advanced hydrological modeling and sensing with actionable use of data and application to local decision-making; and topics at the intersection of urban hydrology, community impacts, and environmental justice. 

A Ph.D. in civil or environmental engineering, hydrology, or a related STEM field is required.  Candidates should have a distinguished record of research and evidence of teaching excellence.
