Job Summary:

The Shepherd University Department of Environmental and Physical Science is seeking applicants with a Ph.D. in Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, or a related discipline for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor starting August 2022. Responsibilities include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, university service, and advising. Courses may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online. Evening teaching may be required.

  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary program in Environmental Studies. 
  • Teach introductory courses in Earth Science and Environmental Science and advanced courses in Physical Geology, Historical Geology, and Meteorology. 
  • Contribute to the programs offerings in geospatial science (including GIS), agriculture, resource management, and/or environmental policy are desirable. 
  • Establish research activities suitable for a public liberal arts institution and involving undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, or a related discipline at the time appointment begins 

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants who have additional expertise in geospatial science, agriculture, resource management, and/or environmental policy are desired.
