Faculty Position, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Rutgers University-New Brunswick

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the School of Engineering, Rutgers—New Brunswick, is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the area of Environmental Engineering. The hire is intended to augment the expanded growth of the Department in the new Richard Weeks Hall of Engineering. The anticipated start date of the employment is September 1, 2022.

The faculty search aligns with the strategic directions of the Department and recognition of the need for building collaborative relationships between engineering disciplines and beyond. Of special interest for this search are candidates demonstrating knowledge, creativity, and innovation in one of the following, or related areas of Environmental Engineering: Urban Hydrology, Nature-Based Coastal Engineering, Indoor Air Quality and Treatment, and Carbon Emissions Reduction. The new hire is intended to augment research capacity at the forefront of Environmental Engineering.

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree and Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related STEM field. The successful candidate is expected to develop a well-funded research program and build collaborative relationships with research programs within the School of Engineering and other programs inside and outside the University. The successful candidate is also expected to develop and teach new courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Department that incorporate the state of the art knowledge and innovation. Particularly, the new hire is expected to contribute significantly to the collegial cross-school undergraduate program in Environmental Engineering as well as the proposed Ph.D. graduate program in Environmental Engineering. Finally, the CEE Department is committed to promoting and maintaining a diverse and inclusive culture and is, thus, interested in candidates who will contribute to the diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service.

To apply, please go to https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/148219. Applicants should submit a letter of application, CV, statements of research and teaching, and a statement on plans or accomplishments in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and a list of three references. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
