Location: Newark
Categories: Research & Laboratory, Full Time

The Center for Research in Wind (CReW, https://crew.udel.edu/) at the University of Delaware (UD) is seeking a Post-doctoral Researcher with expertise in WRF simulations of wind farm wakes. This position is for up to one year, based on mutual interest and satisfactory performance. The Postdoc will work directly with Dr. Cristina Archer (https://sites.udel.edu/ceoe-carcher/). The position is available immediately, as early as September 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will focus on simulations of the interactions between air flow and wind turbines. The project involves the use and further development of a wind farm parameterization for the WRF model. The ideal candidate meets the following requirements:

  • Ph.D. in environmental engineering, meteorology, or a closely related field;
  • Advanced knowledge of WRF, including familiarity with the Fitch parameterization for wind farms and past experience modifying the WRF code;
  • Knowledge of Fortran and Unix/Linux;
  • Familiarity with parallel environments (e.g., openMPI);
  • Knowledge of post-processing software for complex flow field analysis (e.g., NCL, Matlab);
  • Preferred: experience with WRF-LES or other high-fidelity CFD tools.

Applicants should submit a CV, a statement of research interests, and contact information for three references through the UD Talent Link provided below. For questions or additional information, please contact Dr. Cristina Archer (carcher@udel.edu). Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
