Teaching Assistant Professor of Marine Science

The School of Marine Science and Policy (SMSP) at the University of Delaware, Newark, DE, invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor faculty position (non-tenured, continuing-track), with an anticipated start date of August 2022. The School is looking for exceptional individuals with expertise in marine science who: a) are interested in undergraduate teaching, b) have the ability to develop a new course in Marine Ecology, and c) demonstrate a commitment to incorporating innovative evidence-based methods into undergraduate class-room courses.

 

SMSP offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science with concentrations in either Marine Biology or Oceanography, and a Minor in Marine Science. Responsibilities will include teaching and teaching-related tasks for lower and upper division undergraduate courses; mentorship of undergraduates; continued professional development, particularly relating to instruction and pedagogy; and participation in university service.

 

Applicants must have a PhD degree in marine science or a closely related field. Prior teaching experience is required by the time of application (teaching assistant experience is counted). Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduates, experience with evidence-based teaching methodologies, and participation in program development and assessment. Successful candidates will have a record of collaborative activities, and will be able to contribute to the improvement of the undergraduate experience in SMSP.
