CIMAR UHSLC POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER – ID# 221722.

The University of Hawaii Sea Level Center (UHSLC) is hiring four postdoctoral scholars to join a growing research program focused on the mechanisms, predictability, and impacts of changing coastal water levels. The UHSLC is part of the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (CIMAR) and the SOEST Department of Oceanography, which is consistently ranked among the top oceanography departments in the world. The UHSLC recognizes that diverse groups with diverse ideas enhance the research enterprise, and we encourage applications from candidates ready to contribute to a supportive and equitable work environment.

The UHSLC invites applications from candidates across a range of research backgrounds and skillsets to work on projects focused on understanding regional sea-level rise and variability; processes contributing to sea-level extremes; wave-driven contributions to total coastal water level; and compounding oceanic and atmospheric conditions that affect the coastal environment. Approaches include assessing state-of-the-art climate model output (e.g., CMIP6); performing and validating numerical modeling experiments; analyzing in-situ and satellite observations of sea levels, waves, and weather conditions; and/or generating statistical analyses and projections.
