Assistant Professor, Computational Oceanography

*Please visit SJSU's Applicant Link for full details*

The Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and the Department of Computer Science at San José State University invite applications for a tenure-track position in any field of computational oceanography that complements an interdisciplinary group of scholars in marine science who are active in marine biological, physical, chemical and geological research. The position will also complement the Department of Computer Science, consisting of scholars active in research areas such as data science, machine learning, computer security, bioinformatics, and distributed computing. The position will reside at the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML) where the faculty emphasizes integration of mentoring, teaching, and research, with excellent facilities and staff that contribute to make this a renowned program for a Master’s degree in marine science. Since its establishment in 1966, MLML and its scientists have contributed significantly to the advancement of the field of marine science, both in Monterey Bay and worldwide. MLML offers undergraduate courses but is primarily a graduate institution for students seeking a Master of Science degree in Marine Science, through a consortium of seven California State University campuses. The typical MLML faculty course load is two classes per semester including an undergraduate-level class in the Computer Science Department. The successful candidate will be an SJSU faculty member and will work with both MLML and Computer Science faculty but will be located at the MLML facility, with all or most of their teaching/research conducted at MLML. Visit MLML’s website for further information: mlml.sjsu.edu.
