The Research Associate Professor or Research Professor is a full-time position who will serve as Co-Director for the Center for Petroleum Geochemistry. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in geology, geochemistry or a related field and have extensive experience in research and instrumentation relevant to organic chemistry.
The Co-Director is expected to use molecular, chemical, and isotopic compositions, experiments, and petrology to pursue a transformative and externally-funded research program in one or more areas including: provenance of organic-rich materials in sedimentary systems, hydrocarbon biodegradation, hydrocarbon fingerprinting, environmental remediation monitoring, carbon cycling, biogeochemistry, paleoenvironmental reconstructions, basin modeling, and characterizations of extraterrestrial organic compounds.
The successful candidate is also expected to build active collaborations within and outside the university and to develop an externally-funded research program that is internationally recognized. Rank will be commensurate with the final candidate’s credentials and experience.
