The University of Missouri invites applications for several fully-funded PhD scholarships (tuition, insurance, and stipend) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for fall 2022.
River dynamics and mixing
This research focuses on the turbulence in Missouri River and its impact on ecosystem and fishery management. The student is expected to conduct field observations using ADV and ADCP to measure turbulence in rivers and streams. Hydrodynamics modeling will also be used to understand the river dynamics.
Turbulence observations and modeling in ecosystem applications
This research focuses on measurements and modeling of turbulence flow, particularly for particle flows. The candidate is expected to use laboratory PIV and OpenFOAM to study various particle flows. The applications include sedimentation, dispersion, and resuspension of particles in mussel-bed boundary layer, fecal particle deposition relevant to eco-epidemiology, and seed dispersal in wind.
