Laboratory Specialist in Environmental Radionuclides.

The Geochemistry program at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), Florida State University (FSU), seeks a laboratory specialist in environmental radionuclide geochemistry. The candidate selected is expected to conduct measurements of the environmental distribution of radium and its daughter products in and around industrial waste sites and from their processing. The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal for up to three additional years conditional upon performance and availability of funding.

A PhD in earth science, environmental chemistry or other field providing expertise in low-level radionuclide determination by gamma spectrometry is desirable. Candidates with a masters degree (MS or equivalent) and at least three years of experience in gamma spectrometry will be considered. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Geochemical facilities available include gamma spectrometry, three magnetic sector ICP-MS instruments, a Class-100 clean laboratory, laser ablation, x-ray diffraction and electron microscopy.
