The Hawai‘i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, (HIGP), University
of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM), seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant
Researcher. We are looking for individuals to apply and develop
cutting-edge electrical geophysical exploration techniques to quantify
groundwater resources and characterize structures affecting groundwater
storage and flow in volcanic island settings, with special emphasis on
processes and conditions relevant to sustainable water management in the
State of Hawai’i. This is a permanent, full time (100% FTE) tenure-track
position with nine months per year of state support. The appointee will
be required to raise the remaining three months of their salary support from
extramural grants and contracts. The appointment will be made at the
assistant level (R3M11; position number 83491).


HIGP is a multi-disciplinary unit in the School of Ocean and Earth
Science and Technology (SOEST) at UHM, a R1 research university and
Minority Serving Institution with a very diverse and multicultural
environment. HIGP is engaged in research, technology development,
teaching, workforce training, and service in cutting-edge planetary
sciences, materials science and mineral physics, cosmochemistry, small
satellite engineering and instrument development, and geophysics. HIGP
maintains a diverse faculty. The successful candidate shall establish a
vigorous and extramurally funded research program, shall advise, mentor,
and teach at the undergraduate and graduate level, and shall publish
research results in the refereed literature.
