Assistant Professor of Geology

Geology and Geological Engineering

 

The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Geological Engineering. We welcome applications from candidates with a wide range of expertise including geological engineering, petroleum engineering, rock mechanics, civil engineering, energy, geofluids, or other related fields. 

 

An earned doctorate in geological engineering or a closely related discipline is required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, develop a robust externally funded research program that will support graduate research projects bridging Earth sciences and engineering, and establish a quality publication record. Preference will be given to candidates that are, or are eligible to become, licensed professional engineers. Industry experience is desired but not required as a complement to academic expertise.
