Provide programmatic technical research- and outreach-related support for the National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC). Conduct collaborative research with the NDMC and other scientists on drought monitoring/early warning and risk/impact assessment tools and methodologies. Work with a collaborative team in the preparation of the U.S. Drought Monitor, North American Drought Monitor, and the OCONUS USDM work and other monitoring tools; analyze technical data and information, develop code, programs and scripts, presentations, and publications; develop new materials and maintain/update existing materials on the NDMC website; assist with the development of grant proposals to external funding agencies and organizations. Assist with technical organizational aspects of conferences and training seminars/workshops and actively contribute to these meetings as a presenter, facilitator and discussant.
