The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Boston College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of Ice Sheet Dynamics. We seek a geoscientist who researches the physical processes controlling ice sheet behavior and its coupling with the climate system to improve our understanding of the multi-faceted roles (e.g., sea level change, oceanic circulation/sea surface temperatures, regional precipitation, glacial isostatic adjustment, erosion, etc.) played by ice sheets in shaping the past, present and future Earth system. Possible research areas could include, but are not limited to, glaciology, ice physics, dynamic behavior of ice sheets, mass balance, sub-glacial processes, coupling between ice and mantle dynamics, ice-shelf physics, and ice sheet-ocean interactions. We are interested in individuals who combine gathering and interpretation of field and/or remote sensing data with theoretical or computational work. We particularly encourage applicants whose expertise complements the research of scholars from our department and across the university, including interdisciplinary research within the new Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society (https://www.bc.edu/schiller).
The successful candidate will teach a mix of courses in the field of ice sheet dynamics, geared to majors in geological science and environmental geoscience, non-majors, and M.S. and Ph.D. students.

All candidates must have a PhD in a field related to ice sheet dynamics at the time of appointment.
