The Stanford Science Fellows program invites applications from outstanding graduating doctoral students and early-career postdoctoral scholars committed to advancing foundational research, working across disciplines with exceptional scholars, and bringing greater diversity of thought and experience to the global community of natural scientists.
Stanford’s top-ranked science and engineering departments, as well as its many interdisciplinary laboratories and research institutes—all situated in close proximity on campus—provide an unparalleled range of opportunities for collaboration. To support their research, Stanford Science Fellows have access to faculty and facilities in Stanford’s Schools of Humanities and Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Earth as well as at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
Approximately ten new fellows will be chosen by faculty from across the natural sciences. An important selection criterion is a commitment to enhancing demographic and intellectual diversity in Stanford’s scientific community.
Stanford Science Fellows are appointed for a term of three years. Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $85,000, benefits (including health insurance), $8,000 per year in supplemental funds to support research and professional development, and up to $2,000 in relocation expenses. The program includes community-building activities to foster professional development and leadership skills, as well as workshops, seminars, and informal discussions with Stanford faculty and visitors.
