Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We are seeking a Deputy Group Leader for the Computational Earth Science (EES-16) Group at LANL in Los Alamos, NM. EES-16 works on problems related to hydrogeology, earth system science, fossil and clean energy, energy and environmental infrastructure, wildfire studies, and natural hazards.

The Deputy Group Leader will assist with the operation and administration of the Computational Earth Science Group, which includes administration of budgets and performance standards, management of facilities and operations, program development, and mentoring, training, and career development of scientists. This position is funded 50% for Group management duties and 50% for scientific/technical projects.

Qualifications:

 

  • Experience developing and leading cross-disciplinary research projects in earth sciences Experience managing personnel Experience in scientific program development Experience leading scientists in disciplines including hydrogeology, earth system science, fossil and clean energy, wildfire studies and natural hazards Scientific excellence in a technical area related to the Computational Earth Science Group Ability to obtain Q Clearance

Education: PhD in a STEM field is preferred.
