We invite motivated outstanding candidates to apply for the Boya Postdoctoral Fellowships at the School of Earth and Space Sciences at Peking University (PKU) or national postdoc fellowships. Applicants with an interest in seismology or interdisciplinary interests are particularly encouraged to apply.

The fellowship is for a period of 2 years, with a base salary of 200K RMB/year (exchange rates 7-8 RMB/Euro and 6-7 RMB/US$), a housing subsidy of 60K RMB/year, and benefits that include medical and social insurance (in amount of around 91K RMB/year).

Additional compensations will be considered that are commensurate with experience. Accompanying children may enter the kindergarten, primary/secondary school of PKU.

Applicants below the age of 35 with PhDs within the last 3 years are eligible to apply. Applicants from well-known universities/programs are particularly encouraged to apply.

While the fellowship is a personal fellowship to the candidate and therefore allows one to follow own research interests, we are particularly interested in the following areas.

  • High-resolution imaging of earth structure and regional tectonics (esp. on east Asia)
  • Deep earth structure and dynamics
  • Fault zone fine structure and earthquake source processes and physics
  • Applications of new techniques, e.g., machine learning, DAS, array processing, joint inversions..

Successful applicants are to work primarily with Prof. Xiaodong Song and are encouraged to collaborate with other PKU faculty members (e.g., Profs. Han Yue and Li Zhao) and with the SinoProbe Lab of the Ministry of Natural Resources (Prof. Shuwen Dong).

The positions remain open until filled (for Fall or Spring). The next deadline for the Fall is mid-October, 2022. Candidates are encouraged to contact us early. Please contact Ms. Diana Wu at for general information and to submit preliminary application materials including a CV and a short statement of research interests. For discussion of research projects, contact Prof. Xiaodong Song (
