Job Details
The Environmental Science and Sustainability Department at Drake University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Aquatic Environmental Science, to begin in the fall semester of 2023. We are looking for a new colleague who is dedicated to teaching, interested in collaboration, and eager to contribute to the growth and further evolution of the department. The successful candidate will be able to work with community partners, develop a field-based research program in aquatic systems that includes undergraduates, and teach courses on a range of aquatic and earth science topics. Our department values interdisciplinarity, diversity, community engagement, the ability to work with systems in central Iowa, student-centered teaching and research, and a demonstrated ability to obtain external funding. Candidates with backgrounds in water quality, hydrogeology, hydrology, limnology, geology, biogeochemistry, environmental chemistry, environmental science, resource management, or related fields are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have experience in—or the potential for—building an equitable and inclusive environment for teaching, mentoring, research, life experiences, and service to the institution, the department, and our students. Applicants should submit a letter of application, a current curriculum vita, evidence of teaching effectiveness, research and diversity statements, and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three references through the link at https://www.drake.edu/hr/. Review of applications will begin November 4, 2022, and continue until the position is filled. Selection will depend on the receipt of recommendation confirming the candidate’s scholarly achievements and teaching abilities and/or on the candidate’s satisfactory passing a teaching demonstration if selected for an on-campus interview. Queries may be directed to david.courard-hauri@drake.edu. A PhD or ABD status is required for consideration. Drake University is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
