Job Details

A postdoctoral position is available on a grant-funded project to evaluate the water quality effectiveness of floodplain restorations in the mid-Atlantic US. The successful candidate will investigate the use of stable nitrogen (N) isotopes for denitrification N removal in restored floodplain soils. The candidate will be responsible for field sampling, laboratory analysis, data processing, interpretation of results, presentation of results at conferences, and manuscript writing for journals. The candidate will also assist with student education and mentoring on related group projects.

Qualifications: PhD in soil sciences, hydrology, biogeochemistry, or closely related fields. Preference will be given to candidates who can start early and have a strong knowledge of floodplain biogeochemical processes and stable N isotopes.  

Initial appointment will be for 1-year with continuation pending progress and funding. Preferred start date is January 1, 2023 or before, but the position will remain open until filled.
