The Department of Environmental Sciences (ENVS) at Emory University, Atlanta, GA, seeks applicants for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor with a focus on applied socio-environmental sciences beginning fall semester 2023.

We welcome applications from candidates whose research explores and analyzes the interaction of human behavior at one or more scales, from the individual to communities and institutions, with global environmental change and natural resources and their implications for equity and environmental justice. The successful candidate’s interdisciplinary work will incorporate quantitative and qualitative social science approaches applied to relevant coupled human-environmental interaction domains such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, the environment-health nexus, food systems, sustainable cities, energy production and water resources.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a widely recognized and policy-relevant research program that attracts external funding and contributes to the interdisciplinary mission of the department and the university; teach and mentor at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; and contribute to the department, university, and relevant professional societies and community through service, collaboration and engagement.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent granted by the time of appointment. Candidates should demonstrate a clear trajectory for excellence in both research and teaching in a multidisciplinary setting, as well as a demonstrated commitment to enhancing inclusion and diversity in the environmental sciences.

We embrace diversity and seek candidates who will participate in a climate that attracts students of all ethnicities, races, nationalities, and genders. Emory University is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. Women, minorities, people with disabilities and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications will be accepted only via Interfolio: https://apply.interfolio.com/114288 and should include (1) a cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) research statement; (4) teaching statement; (5) a one-page statement on your plans to contribute to efforts on inclusion and diversity at Emory, and (6) a list of three academic references with contact information. Review begins on October 28, 2022 (apply by midnight on October 27, 2022, for priority consideration), but applications received up to 30 days after review begins will be given full consideration. Questions related to the position (but not application materials) should be addressed to: envs.search@emory.edu.
