Description

This non-tenure track Senior Lecturer position presents an opportunity to join a productive and collegial department within a vibrant liberal arts college at a highly-ranked R1-research university. We seek an individual aimed at the highest standards of teaching who would be drawn to interact with a diverse, interdisciplinary group of faculty and students in Earth and Environmental Sciences and other related fields. In fall 2022, the College of Arts and Science launched a new interdisciplinary major in Climate Studies, and thus we seek applicants who are enthusiastic about contributing to this program. This position would begin in the fall semester of 2023. It is a renewable full-time position with an initial contractual period of three-years.

The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s teaching mission offering introductory and advanced Earth and Environmental Sciences classes, including some with a focus on the climate system. A willingness to teach a breadth of courses in the Earth and Environmental Sciences is required with an interest in developing new courses and a willingness contribute to shaping the department’s teaching curriculum.

Qualifications

A PhD, in hand no later than August 15, 2023, in Earth, Atmospheric, Oceanic Sciences, or related field is necessary. A foundation in climate science is preferred. Interest or experience with both modern and ancient earth systems through the lens of quantitative methods and physical processes is preferred. Successful candidates will have a strong record of teaching excellence, interest in pedagogy, and experience working with diverse students.
