The University of New Brunswick, Department of Earth Sciences, invites applications for a continuing (tenure-track) position at the Assistant Professor level to commence July 1, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department seeks to bolster its strength in environmental geoscience by hiring an outstanding candidate involved in the study of Quaternary or modern geological environments with applications in water resources, climate change, geotechnics, renewable energy or natural hazards. Disciplines of interest include surficial geology, geohydrology, glaciology, and remote sensing - all relevant to the measurement or modelling of geologically-mediated processes occurring in the Critical Zone where rock, soil, water, atmosphere, and ecosystems interact.

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, in the classroom, lab and field, in our Earth Science, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science and Geological Engineering Programs. They will be expected to develop a robust, externally funded research program, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and to engage with their colleagues in departmental initiatives/service.

Required qualifications include a PhD, clear potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a strong record or emerging strength in research and publications. Eligibilities for professional licensure in geoscience and in engineering would be assets for our professional programs.
