The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall of 2023. Applicants will be considered at the assistant professor, associate professor and professor level for a position in civil & environmental engineering with a focus on water resources engineering.  The successful candidate should demonstrate strong, fundamental knowledge in a core specialization of water resources engineering and the ability to apply this knowledge to solve water resources problems relevant to society. We are particularly interested in candidates that are capable of contributing to interdisciplinary teams focused on water data science and hydroinformatics, urban hydrology, low impact development, flood modeling and forecasting, modeling and risk evaluation of compound hazards, and sustainable and resilient water infrastructure.

Candidates applying at the assistant professor rank should demonstrate rigorous training in water resources engineering and/or fluid mechanics, and strong potential to affect the field through original scholarship, excellent teaching and student mentoring, and service to the university and profession. Applicants at the associate professor rank must have an established research record demonstrating the ability to advance engineering through the application of fundamental knowledge, evidence of excellence in teaching and student mentoring, and should demonstrate the potential to become a leader in their field. Applicants at the full professor rank must be a leader in their field with an international reputation for research, teaching, and service.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate level; advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate research students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected. The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M is proud to be among the top civil and environmental engineering programs in the country, ranked 7th in undergraduate programs and 7th in graduate programs at public institutions. Texas A&M civil engineering graduates are highly recruited and widely regarded as among the most work-ready young engineers in the country. The department currently has 49 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 20 academic professional track faculty members. Our student population is comprised of over 800 undergraduate students (sophomore to senior level) and close to 400 graduate students. Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline at the time of the appointment.
