The Department of Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the broad area of hard rock geology and/or geochemistry, starting August 2023. The candidate is expected to establish an innovative externally funded research program and supervise MS and PhD level graduate students. We are particularly interested in applicants who can combine an understanding of fundamental processes with a state-of-the- art laboratory, modeling, and/or field research program that provides synergy with existing research activities in the Department of Geosciences and existing units such as the Center for Environmental Studies, the Environmental Science Program, and/or Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. We are looking for a broadly trained hard-rock geologist or geochemist to be a primary instructor for the major core courses that are essential to our program – undergraduate courses on mineralogy, igneous and metamorphic petrology, and/or earth materials with laboratory. Other teaching responsibilities may include a course in introductory geology, a field-oriented course, and advanced course(s) in the candidate’s specialty.
