As part of the NSF-funded Research Training Group “Optimization and Inversion for the 21st Century Workforce,” the Department of Mathematics at the University of Utah invites applicants for graduate student (PhD) research assistantships. These positions involve working closely with applied mathematics faculty to contribute to RTG initiatives and the overarching goals of the RTG as described at https://www.math.utah.edu/amrtg/. Admission to the PhD program in Mathematics requires a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (or a related field). Candidates with a strong academic background (e.g., GPA and GRE scores) and strong potential for research are invited to apply. To be considered for RTG support, applicants must be US citizens, nationals, or permanent residents, but admission to the PhD program is open to all nationalities and backgrounds.
