Center Director, USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (Santa Cruz, CA): The Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center Director is responsible for a broad portfolio of projects, including research on coastal and marine geohazards (earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis), marine minerals, coastal and marine ecosystem change, seafloor seeps, corals, paleoclimate reconstructions, and much more, primarily along the continental western margin, Alaska, Hawai’i, and the Pacific Trust Territories. The Director supervises approximately 85 researchers, support scientists, marine engineers, seagoing technical staff, and others, and reports directly to the USGS Southwest Regional Director. The Center works cooperatively with similar Centers in Florida and Massachusetts and the Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program in Virginia, amongst others.
