A core element of this mission is basic research on regional climate change and its impacts. PCIC also thinks strategically on future climate service demands and in so doing creates new areas of applied research.

Modes of service delivery include a range of data and information portals and electronic tools made freely available on the web, direct delivery to users via user-commissioned projects, co-development of services and information with users, user training and education activities, and the publication of research, reports, and other materials.

The Director leads the Consortium and provides overall management so PCIC can fulfil its mission to create, deliver, and maintain of a range of high-quality climate services that respond to the user needs both to stakeholders across the province of BC and beyond. The ideal candidate will be an experienced researcher and leader of interdisciplinary teams and an internationally recognized and respected expert in climate science or related discipline.  The successful candidate will also possess a strong track record of collaboration and innovation, and delivery of climate products and services to meet stakeholder needs.
