The Auburn University Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, is seeking a laboratory technician at the Research Associate I or II level (commensurate with qualifications). A minimum BS degree in chemistry, environmental engineering, or related field is required. Higher degrees (MS and/or PhD) and prior experience in maintaining and operating chemistry labs are highly desired. The incumbent will primarily assist with the safety management, routine operation, and maintenance of the environmental engineering labs following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws. This includes developing a working knowledge of equipment, materials and processes related to typical environmental engineering lab/facility operations, including procedures for observation, documentation and collection, analysis and presentation of data, and knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis related to lab operations. Experience in using and maintaining analytical instrumentation common to environmental engineering chemistry laboratories preferred, including ion chromatography (IC), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), total organic analyzer (TOC), dynamic light scattering (DLS), Real-time polymerase chain reaction (QPCR), etc.
