The Geology Department at Whitman College is seeking applicants for a one year position with strong background in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, at the rank of visiting assistant professor (or visiting instructor if ABD) beginning August 2023. Preferably applicants will have a Ph.D. at the start of the position; ABD will be considered.
The successful candidate will offer courses in Introductory Geology (100 level), Sedimentology and Stratigraphy (200-level), and any two courses from GIS, Hydrology, Soils, and Geophysics. Our curriculum is strongly field oriented and the successful applicant will be invited to participate in our twice-yearly, 4-day Regional Geology field trip. The standard annual teaching load is five courses (labs count as 0.5 course-equivalent). The ability to mentor student research projects is encouraged.
