Applications for this position will be accepted until 2/10/23.

The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (SPH), Environmental Systems and Human Health (ESHH) Program, invites applicants for one full-time 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning September 1, 2023.  The current research strengths of the OHSU-PSU SPH are in the areas of maternal and reproductive health, infectious and zoonotic disease, health inequities arising from social structure, sexual/gender minority health, health policy, substance use disorders, ecological health, environmental chemistry, and climate change. The SPH and ESHH program also involve faculty with research strengths in occupational and environmental health who are based at OHSU’s nationally regarded Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences. The new ESHH faculty member will contribute research expertise in these areas of strength and/or expand expertise into the field of Planetary Health, including environmental racism, the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities, or implementing environmental health solutions using systems approaches.  The ESHH faculty member will also teach graduate level environmental courses and mentor graduate students.

The OHSU-PSU SPH is aligned with the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and our School is committed to becoming an antiracist SPH. We are working to center social justice in our internal and external work as a school and are committed to addressing structural and institutional racism, and to holding ourselves accountable to this work. In service to increasing the diversity of our faculty population we especially seek applicants who have lived experience as a member of an under-represented group, including non-white and / or first-generation college students.

Our SPH is a joint school combining the resources of two of Oregon’s leading universities. We will lead in advancing a healthy, equitable society through community engagement, education, research, scholarship, and service. Uniting the cultures and resources of OHSU and of PSU, the SPH educates future public health leaders and advances public health scholarship through creative research, innovative educational practices, and sustained engagement with community partners. We believe in inclusion, innovation, integration, integrity and impact. We are committed to hiring faculty who have a keen interest in, and desire to advance, the School’s educational, research, service and community engagement missions and values.
