Job description
The Research group Geophysics and Geodynamics at the University of Bremen (https://www.marum.de/en/about-us/Geophysics-Geodynamics.html) invites applications for a Post-Doctoral position in the field of Numerical modelling of the evolution of rifted margins and oceanic plates under the supervision of Prof. Marta Pérez-Gussinyé.

The group is focused on understanding the dynamics of rifted margins and oceanic spreading and works within the MARUM Excellence Cluster for Marine Environmental Sciences: "The ocean floor - Earth's unchartered interface" (https://www.marum.de/en/The-Ocean-Floor.html). Within this framework we are developing dynamic models coupling deformation to surface processes, hydrothermal flow and melting. Broad current research topics within the group include the role of inheritance in margin, sedimentary architecture and magmatic budgets, the dynamics of the rift to ridge transition, tectonic controls on oceanic crustal composition and the feedbacks between hydrothermal flow and tectonics.

We are looking for a geodynamic modeler interested in topics related to, but not necessarily restricted to, 3D geodynamic modelling, coupling of lithospheric and mantle dynamics to geochemical thermodynamics and kinetics, melt migration, and interactions between hydrothermal flow and the earthquake cycle. Submission of own project proposals and original scientific publication for the purpose of postdoctoral academic qualification (e.g. habilitation) are expected.

The holder of this position may have to teach up to 4 hours weekly (mainly in English) at B.Sc. and M.Sc. level (§ 23a BremHG) and is expected to support PhD and master projects under the responsibility of Prof. Marta Pérez-Gussinyé.

Requirements
* Master/diploma in Geosciences or related field
* Completed doctoral degree in Computational Geodynamics or related fields.
* Experience in scientific programming (MATLAB, Python, Julia, C++) and numerical methods for solving PDEs (preferably finite elements).
* Applicants should have excellent English language skills and enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary team.

General Information
The university is family-friendly, diverse and sees itself as an international university. We therefore welcome all applicants regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity.
