Research Development Services (RDS) at the University of Arizona is seeking to fill the role of Associate, Research Development (Research Development Professional IV) Physical Sciences & Engineering.
Associates provide proposal development support for UArizona faculty pursuing extramural funding through strategic proposal consultation with faculty, proposal management, & review for grantsmanship & alignment with the funding solicitation.
The Physical Sciences & Engineering Associate will support proposals to NASA, the Department of Energy, and the National Science Foundation. NASA proposals are coordinated through the UA Space Institute (UASI), and as such, this position will have the opportunity to work closely with the research scientists and engineers affiliated with UASI.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of, and familiarity with, various federal sponsoring agencies, prior experience in research development related roles, including identifying funding sources, and proposal development and/or proposal editing/writing. Further the candidate will have the ability to review & interpret funding opportunity goals & guidelines to ensure alignment with the sponsor. Associates are expected to support team development through organizing thematic workshops & meetings supporting the Associate’s portfolio.
This requires an attitude for excellence, a forward-thinking approach to anticipating funding opportunities, excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, and a collaborative approach to working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and scientific disciplines. This position joins a growing team of professionals within UArizona's Research Development Services.
