The Postdoctoral Research Associate will join the Dynamics and Chemistry of the Summer Stratosphere (DCOTSS) team in the Texas A&M Department of Atmospheric Sciences.  The postdoc will be responsible for performing independent research to analyze and model the DCOTSS field campaign data. Job responsibilities:

-Collaborative Research: As part of the DCOTSS team you will help develop shared software, work collaboratively with and assist other DCOTSS scientists, help mentor DCOTSS graduate students, contribute to the DCOTSS team research objectives, and participate in science team meetings and academic conferences.
-Data Analysis : Perform independent research to analyze and/or model DCOTSS field campaign data, as well as other related historical datasets.
-Data Management : Responsible for assisting with data management of the DCOTSS project.  The candidate will also develop shared datasets and support other data management related efforts in the research group, as well as performing other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

-Appropriate PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or closely related field

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Ability to develop and contribute to the development of scientific software
-Ability to develop shared datasets
-Ability to interact with and assist other DCOTSS scientists
-Ability to conduct independent research
-Ability to analyze and/or model the DCOTSS data
-Ability to help mentor graduate students
-Ability to prepare results for presentations at academic conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals
-Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others
-Ability to carry out independent research.

Preferred Education and Experience:

-Experience in the development of scientific software, creating shared datasets, interacting with and assisting other scientists, analyzing and modeling atmospheric data, and graduate student mentoring
-Experience in observations or modeling of the upper troposphere/lower stratosphere
Research experience in upper troposphere/lower stratospheric dynamics, convective dynamics, satellite or radar remote sensing, or in situ atmospheric -observations
-Experience developing software in IDL, Matlab, or Python is needed
