Job Description:

The Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC, or "the Center") at the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY) seeks to hire two permanent-eligible Research Associates in the Atmospheric Sciences. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, Atmospheric Chemistry and Air Quality, Flood Hydrology, Radar Meteorology, and Climate. Experience in AI applications is favored.

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue and secure funding to support a robust research program and publish their work in academic (e.g. scientific peer-reviewed) journals. We expect the position to strengthen ASRC and the University by (i) maintaining a strong externally funded research program, (ii) mentoring graduate students and postdocs, and (iii) participating, as necessary, in service to the Center and the University.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a doctorate in atmospheric science, atmospheric chemistry, environmental science, physics, engineering, or a closely related field, from a university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. The doctorate must be completed by August 31, 2023. Candidates must have a proven record of scholarship in their field and show promise for continued success. Candidates must address in their applications their ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
