The Intelligent Geocomputing Lab at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) is looking for multiple Ph.D. students to advance remote sensing analysis through the use of machine learning methods. There are several research and teaching assistantships available starting in August or December 2023.The positions offer a stipend with health benefits along with a tuition waiver. Extensive experience in machine learning methods and strong programming skills are expected. While familiarity with remote sensing analysis is preferable, candidates with technical backgrounds from other fields and interest in geospatial applications are encouraged to apply (e.g. physics, data science, engineering, geography).  For more information on how to apply please visit:




College and Department: SUNY ESF was founded in 1911. Enrollment is approximately 2200 undergraduate and 500 graduate students, with 20% of entering freshman from outside New York State (students represent more than 30 states) and more than 10% from minority populations. ESF is one of the most selective SUNY campuses for undergraduate admissions. Instruction is provided by nearly 150 full-time faculty members who support 22 undergraduate and 30 graduate degree programs. The College's long-standing partnership with Syracuse University provides ESF students and faculty with additional opportunities. More than 90% of ESF faculty members are active in funded research (the highest percentage in SUNY). The ERE Department has eight full-time collegial faculty members who contribute to our national and international reputation in scholarship. ERE delivers an EAC/ABET accredited B.S. in Environmental Resources Engineering, and offers M.S., M.P.S., and Ph.D. degrees in four areas of study (Geospatial Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Ecological Engineering, and Environmental Resources Engineering), and M.P.S. degrees in Environmental Management.
