Tenure-Track Position in Materials Science and Mineral Physics

The Hawai‘i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, seeks applicants for one tenure-track faculty position. This is a permanent, full time tenure-track position with nine months of state funding annually.  The appointee is expected to fund the remainder through extramural funds.  Anticipated start date is August 1, 2023, or as mutually agreed. The appointment will be at the Assistant Researcher level (R3M11; position number 0086226).

We are looking for an individual with expertise in ‘Materials Science and Mineral Physics’ to teach, win funding, and conduct research developing new instrumentation and techniques for the analysis of natural and human-made materials, and associated science related to Earth and Planetary Science and industrial applications. We seek an individual who would contribute to growing UHM materials science capability, and train UHM undergraduates in the use of our world-class materials analysis laboratories.
