Job Details

LSU Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with fieldwork and analytical expertise in analysis of greenhouse gas emissions and their isotopic composition (CO2, CH4) from natural and anthropogenic sources. The researcher will advance efforts to provide comprehensive data to support policy makers in optimizing methane emissions reductions in the state of Louisiana. This position collaborates with other on-campus groups and state agencies in support of this research and the appointee will conduct research, manage projects, prepare peer-reviewed research products, and attend and present at national and international conferences. The grant supporting this position will continue till 2025.

Job Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for the acquisition and interpretation of field data related to methane and CO2 flux data across the state of Louisiana including offshore regions. 50%

The position will be responsible for conducting geochemical analysis and supervising students who conduct these analyses. Analyses will include dissolved and air samples for both concentrations and isotopic compositions. 20%

The job duties include, but not limited to, organizing and leading meetings, preparing progress and final reports for compliance with contract requirements, conducting literature reviews, collecting, and analyzing data, attending grant related meetings, preparing publications, reports and presentations. 20% Other duties as assigned. 10%

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Geology, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences or other science disciplines

Specific Experience: Candidates with experience in lab and fieldwork

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree

 

Additional Requirements:

-This position requires vehicle operation; a valid Driver's License is required.

-This position is subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with PS-67.
