Research Associate 3

LSU Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences is seeking a Research Associate with fieldwork and analytical expertise. Experience in analysis of greenhouse gas emissions is preferred but not required. Preferred candidates should be willing to carry out fieldwork within the state of Louisiana for extended time periods.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide independent acquisition of field data related to methane and CO2 flux data across the state of Louisiana including offshore regions. 70%

Apply advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities while completing lab geochemical analysis and maintenance of lab and field instruments. 20%

Write reports, making graphs, ordering supplies, and other duties as assigned. 10%​

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geography, Oceanography, Marines Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources or other science disciplines.

2 - 4 years of related experience

Degree Substitution:

Master's in related field

Specific Experience:

Experience in lab and fieldwork

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's in Geology, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences or other science disciplines

Additional Requirements:

-This position will require vehicle operation; a valid Driver's License is required

-This position is subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with PS-67
